This banquet was perhaps my favorite of all that I have done.   For this
banquet I asked one of the men in our church to surprise his wife and renew their wedding vows at
our banquet.   They had been married for 36 years, and he had suffered several heart problems that year.
I also contacted their daughter and son-in-law and asked them to be the matron of honor, and the
best man.   The grandchildren were flower girls and ring bearer.   Don bought Jane a beautiful
emerald and diamond ring for the ring bearer to carry!
The theme was "the bridegroom cometh", and the message was an evangelistic message.
The thought was "the Bridegroom" (Christ) is coming, have you asked Jesus Christ to come
into your heart and save you?
We came in and signed a bridal guestbook.   The meal was served first.
We then moved everyone to the auditorium for the program.   There was a candelabra and arch just
like at a regular wedding.   I had Jane (the unknowing bride) up on the stage to be in a skit "always a
bridesmaid never a bride".   We had made her a knee length cream colored dress with a matching veil
I had found on clearance at Walmart.   During the "skit" her husband came out of a side room and
on bended knee with a long stem red rose, proposed to her and asked her to marry him again.
At this point, there was not a dry eye in the place as everyone realized what was going on!!!
 "Don proposing"
We started the "Canon in D" music, and her daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren came down the aisle.
We then renewed their wedding vows, followed by a brief sermon.
 "Ceremony"
After this, we went back to the fellowship hall for wedding cake, and let Don and Jane cut the cake.
We gave them the guestbook and a night in a bed and breakfast as a memento!
Menu: Turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, peas, fruit cup, rolls, and wedding cake for dessert.
Favors: Wedding bubbles (buy them at the dollar store), decorate them with ribbon,
babies breath and a small silk flower.
Decorations: Hang borrowed wedding dresses around the room.   Put framed wedding
pictures around.   Use borrowed bridal bouquets and put them around also.
White netting and white lights are also beautiful.
Programs: Make your programs like a wedding program.
Door prizes: I used presents like you would get for a wedding present.
