We started this church here in Onalaska,Tx about a year ago, mid-august will be a year. I have 3 children. We are on our second year of home-schooloing. Amanda is 6, Alyssa will be 4 in September and Andrew is almost 18 months. We did Kindergarten last year with Amanda and Alyssa did some pre-school. We started year-round school 2 weeks ago because I find it keeps the children occupied and better behaved. This way, they get a week off every month, 3 weeks in December, 2 in January and 6 in the summer(June-July). We went to a campmeeting in June in Livingston,La and we heard about a church near us, so we looked them up on the net and I kept clicking until I got this page. It would be very nice to hear from some independent, fundamental women for encouragement along the way as this ministry can have so many ups and downs. I am not discouraged, not right at this present time however,ha,ha:-] I am glad I found your site, although I did have some trouble reading the white words on the pink background. Please pray that they might reach many children and their families for Christ, and I amtrying to start a "friends" club at our church. It is a club that is designed for Special Needs Childrenand teens. I don't know if you are familar with AWANA but it is part of their program. I work with MDD high school students and the teacher I work with will allow me to pass out info regarding the program at school. Our lease on our 2 bedroom apartment expired in April and the landlord won't renew although the rent has always been paid on time. He wants us out by 7/31/99 and we are in desparate need of another home. We are Christian. This new home must be in Dexter, MI school district because if I switch my son to another school district, my parents will take me to court again to seek permanent custody of my son. We were just in court a couple of weeks ago as they tried to obtain permanent custody to prevent my son from going to Nevada to visit his terminally ill father. The new home must be close to the busline because my 1979 pickup is broken down and there is no money to either repair or replace. My day job in Ann Arbor is just over 15 miles away and the busline is the only reliable transportation that I have. We also need prayers for another vehicle that is reliable. I am so worried about these things that when I have the chance to sleep, I can't. I have multiple sclerosis and I am getting really run down from working a second job on night shift while the kids sleep, then going to my day job. The stress is starting to take its toll. Please pray for another home for us as we have to move by 7/31/99 and need another vehicle before winter when walking home from the bus stop and the babysitter's will be especially difficult. I am a pastor's wife and a church starter. I am only 26 years old and have no experience what so ever. My husband and I are 24 hours away from our family in Florida. We are both very close to our families so this makes it difficult sometime but we would never change anything. We recently had a problem in our church with some of out members. They said that I cared for my family more than I do them. I do not see where they got this because I do everything and would do anything for them. What hurt the most was that it was my closest friends. Being a small church, we only have 40, makes it hard because everyone knows everyone. If someone can give me some advice, it would be greatly appreciated. Being in a pioneer state also, (we are Southern Baptist and we came here to start a church in what the SB call pioneer) other Southern Baptist churches are so far apart. You do not have friends, close friends, that you can share your joys and trials with. It is easy to share some things with your members but you can't share struggles ] you are having with those members to other members. I would really love to get involved in this web site so that I can get some much needed encouragement. THANK YOU! |

I am not a Pastor's wife but I am involved in the planning of many activities in my church and your helpful and practical ideas will be shared with our ladies. No, we do not attend church in Pleasantville. Our son is the Pastor of that church and you probably met our daughter, Sally Davis, at the workshop and her brother and sister in law, Mike and Jeannie Davis. The workshop was a tremendous blessing in many different ways and it represented a lot of work and prayer. The results will be seen for a long time to come as the Lord works in His marvelous ways. The service Sun. evening was incredible and I wish you all could have been there. I truly believe many young lives will be spared because of the way the Spirit worked in that service. We have a pastors wives' fellowship in our association. We meet every month (except June, July, and December) and really enjoy each other. We have a brief devotion, a craft, a fun activity, and some snacks. We rotate who does what. It's not a time to have a "spiritual experience"--it's a time to be girls who can enjoy each other and know exactly what goes on in the home of a pastor. David and I will celebrate our 23rd anniversary July 16. We have two blessings of children: D.J., 16 (just got his license), a fine percussionist and Christian; and Tabitha, 14 (always on the phone), a first chair floutist and Christian. Sara is 16, entering the senior year in high school. Amanda is 14 and a Jr. in high school. Sara was born with a congenital heart disease which has already led her through two open heart surgeries, a third one soon to be, if the Lord tarries. My husband, Bob and I have been married 25 years last Sept. The Lord has blessed in too many ways to acknowledge. Bob is now Assistant Pastor at our church in Safford, Arizona but feels the Lord moving him to search for a church of his own to Pastor. By the grace of God, we are a happy, well adjusted family. It is called Candle with Care. You take a long no-drip candle and light it and the first person to start the activity must say something nice about someone else in the group without saying their name. They can choose anyone they want, eventually everyone gets a chance. You pass the candle on to whoever you were talking about. This is an encouraging and edifying time. We usually do it around thanksgiving, so that we can thank our sisters in Christ for something that they have done for us through the year. It really promotes unity and there are always a few tears shed. It has been a blessing to me to watch our ladies grow closer to each other through this activity. |
